Once you have all your materials and supplies, you can start making your fort. And if you want to build an epic blanket fort that will be the envy of all other blanket forts, Ariella has you covered. Check out these awesome tips for creating the ultimate secret hangout.

2. Make a cardboard town

They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. But in this case, one parent’s trash is another kid’s treasure! If you have a giant cardboard box lying around, why not gather the troops and make your very own cardboard town?

All you need to do is clear some space in the living room and get to drawing. Grab some textas and draw a town on the bottom of the box with roads, tracks, bridges, parks and car parks. Add some wooden building blocks, cars, trains and animals then let their imaginations run wild!

3. Go on a treasure hunt

Need something fun to keep the kids moving but you’re housebound because of the bad weather? Try your hand at the classic treasure hunt! Also known as a scavenger hunt, you can chase riddles or collect objects along the way to win a prize at the end of the hunt.

And it’s super simple to set up. All you have to do is:

  1. Create clues
  2. Distribute them so that one clue leads to another
  3. Place some “treasure” at the final destination
